Where development did put in the time was in coming up with a logical and intuitive new control scheme that lets you showcase all the moves that Street vets expect.

NBA Street Homecourt is a breath of fresh air to PS3 owners who may have been getting tired of the lack of new titles on the shelf. With little in the way of gameplay that needs a major overhaul, let's hope development spends its time working on more varied game modes and a deeper online experience for the next go-round. Stretch is among the roster of legends that was released as a downloadable content for NBA Street Homecourt. Again, a more diverse online game would have been cool.

There's not even a way to update rosters (although the game was released late enough in the season to have Allen Iverson sporting the Nuggets' baby blue). You can take on a faraway baller and try to work your way up the leaderboard. Online, things aren't all that varied either. A return of the Dunk Contest from V3 - or any type of mini-game for that matter - would have been appreciated. It makes for an impressive looking "Game Modes" menu, but like the Eskimos and their hundred different words for snow, EA has come up with a bunch of different names for basically the same thing. Boston Celtics basketball, scores, news, schedule, roster, players, stats, rumors, details and more on. A Gamebreaker Battle only lets you score during a Gamebreaker, a Back-to-Basics game bags the tricks and Gamebreakers, the Custom Game lets you mess around with the clock and the scoring system, etc. The fourth chapter in the multi-platinum selling NBA Street series expands on the fast-paced and larger-than-life 3-o. Unfortunately, other than the Homecourt Challenge and the quick-play single-game modes, there aren't very many other really unique ways to play - every other mode being nothing more than a slight tweak on the basic game. Success not only opens up more courts to ball on, but increases your man's stats and gives you access to better players to team up with and funkier kicks and clothes to wear.
